I just got a call from CompUSA - and it was from the tech who worked on my computer! He apologized and said "There was a problem with the old Power Supply (you know, the brand new one that was less than two months old) so I replaced it, but didn't realize it wasn't the right one." CompUSA actually called me today. They're waiting for a new Hard Drive since my old one started whining and smoking while they were testing it! Since they don't have any 60 GB drives anymore, I have to wait another week, but at least they're replacing it with an 80 Gig. Woo Hoo ( Read more... )

I called CompUSA to ask about my PC. I brought it in for repairs two weeks ago (related entry here) and they were supposed to call this week, but never did. In any event, I was happy to hear the report. It seems that even though Western Digital's own program found no problems, the techs agreed with qedrakmar that it was a faulty hard drive (related entry ( Read more... )

I gave up and finally brought my PC in to CompUSA to give them another go at it. The clerk actually remembered me (or, more likely, my trippy PC) and asked "Still having problems?" Yup, after running DiskDoctor umpteen times (that's somewhere between 12 and a kajillion) to try and fix the Hard Drive errors it kept finding, my PC started re-booting just after Windows Desktop appeared.
